Candidate Resources
Interview tips that actually help.
Practical guidance we share with every candidate we work with organized by when you'll actually need it.
Before
Pre-Interview Preparation
- The most important part of the process is research and preparation before the interview even happens. Take time to learn the company's history, products, and service offerings.
- Be aware of current events involving the company; an acquisition, a new product launch, a leadership change.
- Thoroughly review the job requirements so you understand the skills and product knowledge the hiring manager needs.
- Be ready to discuss your current and previous roles in detail, and why you're a good fit for this specific position.
During
Day of Interview
- First impressions are everything. Sharp business attire and punctuality signal your work ethic and professionalism before you say a word.
- Bring a hard copy of your resume, plus a pad and paper for note-taking.
- Be thorough and honest. Keep your answers relevant to the role, and give concrete examples from similar projects.
- Bring evidence of your work (code samples for developers, requirements documents for business analysts).
- For a phone interview, find a quiet place and avoid a cell phone if possible, for a clear connection.
- Prepare questions for the interviewer (it shows genuine interest in the role and the company).
After
Interview Follow-Up
- Go the extra mile and separate yourself from other candidates by sending a thank-you note to everyone you met in the process.
- It's not just courtesy, it's a chance to demonstrate your written communication skills.
- Keep it specific: reference something from the conversation, and reaffirm your interest in the role.
